what's wrong with this picture?

I'm all about the community goodies, but there's a big problem with this
situation:

it's the open bowls of M&M's that scream "have some" but without providing a sanitary means of getting some.

I'm no prude, but I see what goes on (or doesn't go on, as the case may be) in the bathroom. well, I can only speak for the ladies, but some of them don't wash their hands after doing their business. and by "wash" I mean using water and soap! some offenders do a courtesy rinse, as if the water will magically remove all the fecal matter and pee residue. pul-lease! that's just gross!

and some of these same offenders have no problems sticking their grubby, pee-sprinkled hands into a bowl of M&M's. I've seen it happen! if it's not a bowl of M&M's then it's a bag of microwave popcorn.
case in point:
there was this one time when a cube-mate, BL, and I were sharing some microwave popcorn. BL and I have similar views when it comes to community snacking...it's great to share, just provide a sanitary way to share. so creative BL got some paper coffee filters from the lunch room for us to use as little bowls for our popcorn. and she brought some extra filters for others to use.

then here comes another cube-mate, CB. and before we can say a word, CB, stuck his hand into the bag of popcorn and started munching on it, hand-to-mouth-to-bag-to-hand-to-mouth, like it was his personal bag of popcorn! then when he had his fill, he put the bag down and scurried away. BL and I then looked at each other and said, "I'm done...you can have the rest" needless to say, we ended up throwing the rest of the popcorn away.

so for all you out there that are thoughtful enough to put out some goodies to share, just remember that some of the folks you work with don't have the courtesy or the good hygiene to use soap after doing their business.
